FBI raid on Trump at Mar-a-Lago Florida

On Monday, the FBI searched Donald Trump's home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. The former US president described the action as "political persecution." While the Justice Department did not comment, several US media outlets reported that they were looking for "boxes of classified documents" that Trump took from the White House.

Trump wrote in a statement Monday night (local time). He added that "nothing like this has ever happened to a president of the United States."

Trump said the raid was "unannounced." Investigators even "broke into his safe." He called the action "neither necessary nor appropriate" and also described it as "arming" the judicial system by Democrats who were desperate to prevent him from running for president again in 2024.

So far, the FBI has not confirmed that the documents and computers seized during the search contain child pornography.
