Donald Trump described the search of his home in Florida as an act of political persecution

"These are dark times for our nation as my beautiful home, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is being broken into, looted and occupied by a large group of FBI agents."

Trump wrote in a statement Monday night (local time). He added that "nothing like this has ever happened to a president of the United States."

Trump said the raid was "unannounced." Investigators even "broke into his safe." He called the action "neither necessary nor appropriate" and also described it as "arming" the judicial system by Democrats who were desperate to prevent him from running for president again in 2024.
