Haitian gangs force citizens to flee to the country Haitian gangs force citizens to flee to the country

The criminal gangs that operate in Haiti and that have already spread to the North, Northwest and Northwest of that country, near and on routes to the Dominican border, are forcing thousands of Haitians to take refuge in Dominican territory.

Meanwhile, members of the Army of the Dominican Republic and the Specialized Body for Land Border Security (Cesfront) have intensified operations against undocumented Haitians who enter or try to enter this country clandestinely through the Dominican-Haitian border. Haitians, almost all without documents, confirm that they are safer in the Dominican Republic than in Haiti, saying that in their country, "life is worth nothing." They also clarify that in Haiti kidnappings are frequent and manifest from people to rattle dogs.

zas, cats and other animals, Haitian merchant Natasha Joseph, from Cap Haitien, (Cape Haitian), Haiti's second largest city, told Listin Diario. Nurse Natally Francois told Lstín Diario that together with her mother and father who died 3 years ago in Santiago de los Caballeros and was a member of the elite group of her country's Army, known as the Leopards, they emigrated to the Dominican Republic. “I am very sorry for what is happening in my country (Haiti), but things are not good there, it surprises me a lot, but I do not show it,” said the Haitian citizen.

Wealthy families are abandoning their properties to settle in the Dominican Republic, due to the violent acts of the gangs that operate in different parts of Haiti. With nostalgia, René Paul said that he closed a pump he had in Cap Haitien and that together with his wife and three of his children they decided to emigrate with visas to Dominican territory and now live in Santiago. The merchant declared that he wants to return to his country, but that they are afraid of the actions of the bandits who kidnap and kill for nothing. "Here we are calm, my children like to be here," he said.
