Police officers and members of the Ecuadorian armed force repress indigenous demonstrators who advance towards Quito, the country's capital, to protest against the government of Guillermo Lasso.

The local media Radio Pichincha reported on Twitter that citizens have pointed out that the Ecuadorian capital, during the afternoon of this Tuesday, "looks like a war zone."

Through a video published by that medium, a security operation is observed where officials throw tear gas canisters at protesters in a sector north of Quito, where there is a "large presence" of police and military personnel.

The protests of the indigenous movement in Ecuador began on June 13 with the call for a National Strike, one year after the unsuccessful dialogue between the Lasso government and the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (Conaie), which demands a series of demands political, economic, social and labor, to put an end to the conflict.

The Conaie has pointed out that Lasso maintains a "contradictory" discourse on the situation in the country, because despite informing that he is willing to participate in a dialogue to seek solutions, he maintains the repression against the protesters and raids the headquarters of the organizations of the indigenous movement with hundreds of military and police personnel.

mass protests

In social networks, different videos have begun to go viral showing the massive protests in the Ecuadorian capital, in which they now also demand Lasso's resignation.
